Australian music sensation and Eurovision star Dami Im will take the stage at Cairns Summer Sounds on Saturday.
The Gladiator singer will perform at Cairns Performing Arts Centre with crowd favourites such as Alive, Super Love, Purple Rain and Eurovision hitSound of Silence.
“We’re pulling out some songs we haven’t done before at our other shows but hopefully we’ll get to play all the songs the audience wants to hear,” Ms Im said.
The last time Ms Im performed in Cairns was in 2020, during the Covid pandemic.
“That was interesting because it was just me playing a solo show at The Tanks. All of my band members were in Sydney and couldn’t fly into Queensland but because I’m from Brisbane, I could fly up,” Ms Im said.
“I had the best time. It was a really happy and appreciative audience and this time I’m bringing my whole band and having local artist Abi Muir open for me so it will feel a lot like a celebration.”
Since releasing her book Dreamer in 2022, Ms Im has been working behind the scenes on her next album.
“I’ve been working on it for the last year so that should be coming out in the middle of the year. But there will be a single before then, so it’s going to come around quite soon,” she said.
While she said she was hopeful to represent Australia at Eurovision again, she said it was not something on the near horizon.
“I always say, never say never but I’m always interested because it was such an amazing experience,” Ms Im said.
Ms Im will travel to Spain next month to perform at the Barcelona Eurovision Party.
“With everything slowly opening back up, it’s really great to get to travel to places. Before Covid, I was planning to do shows and festivals in other countries so it’ll be nice to go overseas again,” she said.
