Cairns Airport has two new eateries, expanding options for frequent flyers as the volume of travellers passing through the Far North trend up towards pre-Covid levels.
Located in the domestic terminal, Two Tigers and Bistrot are the latest to join the airport selection.
Bistrot is a restaurant with table service offering gourmet pizza, sandwiches, pasta, and a selection of fine wines for those with time to relax before their flight.
The restaurant also serves up a number of baked goods and espresso for those on the run.
Two Tigers has added an option for Asian food at the airport, with an emphasis on quick and cheerful Japanese fare.
Think made-to-order wok stir-frys, fresh-rolled sushi, fried chicken karaage, chicken yakitori skewers along with staple rice and noodle dishes.
As travel slowly returns to pre-pandemic levels, the extra options will help meet demand of passengers passing through.
It is yet to reach to pre-Covid numbers, however: the three years leading up to the pandemic saw an average of 443,475 people through Cairns Airport in September.
Facebook users welcomed the news of the new restaurants.
“It’s enough to start planning a flight out!” wrote Trish Bergman.
“The laksa was amazing,” another commenter, Martine Baker, said. “Definitely a must when passing through the airport.”
