Home security footage has captured the moment the driver of a stolen Hyundai i20 lost control and crashed into a ditch in White Rock.
The footage shows the car travelling along a suburban street before losing control on grass and spinning into a ditch on the opposite side of the road.
The video then captures four young people exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot out of shot.
The incident has been linked with the theft of the Hyundai i20 from a Sheridan Street unit complex.
Police confirmed a 14-year-old girl had been charged in relation to the alleged theft of a vehicle from Cairns North on the morning of March 14.
It will be alleged the Hyundai i20 was stolen from a Sheridan Street unit complex.
Around 5pm, the vehicle was located in a ditch at White Rock, and several people were observed leaving the scene.
Later that evening the 14-year-old girl was taken into custody and charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of stealing and one count of enter dwelling and commit.
She is expected to appear before Cairns Childrens Court.
A total of 42 vehicles have been stolen so far this month, as of March 16, taking the tally for 2023 to 170 already.
There were 1299 cars stolen last year the Far North.
