Bundaberg woman faces court after alleged random stabbing attack on teen girl

A teenage girl was allegedly stabbed multiple times in an unprovoked attack outside a dance studio.

A small dance community has offered “love and support” following an alleged random stabbing attack that put a 15-year-old girl in hospital.The alleged attack took place outside the TnT Dance Studio in Bundaberg, four hours north of Brisbane, about 4.30pm on Monday.

Queensland Police allege a woman approached the teen girl, started up a conversation with her and then stabbed her multiple times after producing a knife.

TnT took to social media to describe the horror blast of violence as a “violation” of children.

“What kind of place do we live in, where our safety is violated by offenders who shouldn’t be in the community,” the studio posted.

“Love and support to the family who is recovering from this event.

“Love and support to our dancers who were frightened by this event. Please seek further counselling … for children who may have experienced trauma.”

The 15-year-old Avoca girl suffered non-life-threatening wounds to her back and paramedics took her to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

It is understood she suffered both “penetration” and “slashing” wounds.

The Bundaberg News-Mail reported the girl will undergo surgery on Tuesday night.

Police allege the woman fled the scene and officers located and arrested the woman in a nearby unit block.

The Kristel Louise Paulson, 34, from Bundaberg South woman has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ms Paulson appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday. She has been remanded in custody until her next appearance on March 19.

TnT Dance Studio expressed its gratitude to the “prompt response” of the emergency services.

“A place of love, fun and acceptance was a victim to an unpredictable invasion of our space,” the community said.

“Thank you Miss Paris and Miss Imogen for acting swiftly in a calm and protective fashion to keep our families safe and utilising your first aide skills to assist our student teacher.”
