Where are Brisbane’s New Year’s Eve fireworks?
The Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks are held at South Bank Parklands.
What time does the fireworks display start?
The early firework show is scheduled for 7.45pm, which is ideal for families.
The late firework show is scheduled for midnight.
Road closures
A number of road closures and changed traffic conditions will be in place for New Year’s. You can find the full details from the Brisbane City Council website, here.
What’s the best way to travel?
Due to road closures and limited parking, public transport is the best way to travel on New Year’s Eve. Use Translink’s Journey Planner to plan ahead.
Public transport
On New Year’s Eve, travel across the SEQ network will be free of charge starting from 8:00pm (Tuesday, December 31) until 5:30am on New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1).
There will also be express trains running between Roma street and Moorooka (Beenleigh line) and Banoon (Gold Coast Line) stations.
Please note that if you travel before 8:00pm, normal fares and conditions apply.

Suburban locations where you can view the fireworks
While the most popular spots are near the river, if travelling into the city isn’t an option for you or if you’re not a fan of large crowds or loud noise, you can also see the fireworks from afar. Though not close to the action, you should be able to see the The Lord Mayor’s fireworks from several suburban locations.
