A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by the “heartbroken” wife of a construction worker left fighting for life after a horror accident on the $6.3 billion Cross River Rail project.

Nation “Nash” Kouka, 54, fell up to 12m from scaffolding at the Boggo Rd station site at Dutton Park on Tuesday.

His son Des, who is also a construction worker, is believed to have been working alongside his father and witnessed the accident.

Mr Kouka suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains in intensive care.

Furious fellow workers have walked off the State Government’s showpiece project until Monday in protest at safety concerns, with revelations of more than 300 safety breaches on the job.

Mr Kouka’s wife Doris has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the family as he battles for survival.

“We, his family, are completely heartbroken, as are his friends and co-workers and anyone who has had the joy of meeting Nation … a truly good guy,” Mrs Kouka wrote on the fundraising platform.

“The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming. We deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and we ask that you continue to hold Nation in your hearts and minds as he continues his struggle to survive and heal.

The campaign had raised more than $17,000 of its $100,000 target within hours of being launched, including an anonymous donation of $5000.
