Brisbane’s citywide green bin rollout is almost 20 per cent complete, with more than 28,000 new green bins delivered to residents in 32 suburbs.

Another 44 suburbs will receive the bins over the coming month.

Suburbs in line for deliveries this week were: Zillmere; Fortitude Valley; Holland Park; Tarragindi; Moorooka; Yeronga; Yeerongpilly; Tennyson; Annerley; Waverley Heights; Fairfield.

About 170,000 green bins were in circulation before the rollout began this month.

Around 9000 green bins were being delivered every week, with 315,000 green bins expected to be in use by the end of the rollout.

The citywide rollout was expected to divert between 65,000 and 80,000 tonnes of green waste from landfill every year.

As part of the rollout, the former green bin service charge has been rolled into one Universal Waste Charge which covers all citywide waste.
