Brisbane rail commuters are facing major peak hour delays after a vehicle hit a bridge north of the city, while a signalling issue is affecting services to the west.

TransLink has confirmed services on the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture lines are facing delays of up to 60 minutes after a vehicle crashed into a bridge at Morayfield just before 5pm.

According to Queensland Rail, services will be suspended until the bridge has been checked. The 5.05pm Caboolture to Central train has been cancelled between Caboolture and Narangba stations.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Queensland Rail said all services were suspended in both directions through Morayfield, with hour-long delays expected.

“Our crews are currently en route and we will continue to keep you updated. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue and are online to assist you,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, delays of up to 30 minutes have been caused by a signalling issue on the Ipswich line.

It is understood the trains were delayed due to a signalling fault at Redbank at 3.15pm.

A number of other services, including a Central to Kippa Ring train and Central to Ferny Grove train, have been cancelled due to signalling issues, TransLink says.

The signalling fault has since been resolved but is expected to cause residual 30 minute delays.
