Police have located a three-year-old boy who went missing from the Gold Coast following an alleged family violence incident.
Police arrived at an address on Vine Circuit in Oxenford, on the northern Gold Coast, at about 11.30pm on Wednesday evening to find a 70-year-old woman with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Gold Coast District Detective Inspector Paul Fletcher said that the woman’s daughter, 30, had left the scene on foot with her three-year-old child.
“Due to her actions at that residence, police were seriously concerned for the wellbeing of that child and therefore had issued an amber alert seeking assistance from the public,” he said.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) issued the amber alert at about 6.30am on Thursday.
“Fortunately I can say that as of 9am this morning, that child has been located along with the mother, and both are safe and well and with police,” Inspector Fletcher said.
“I wish to thank the public for all of their assistance with this matter and providing vital information to the police to enable us to locate the child safe and well, in a very timely manner.”
The woman and her child were found in the Redland Bay area, and she is assisting police with their investigation.
The 70-year-old woman remained in Gold Coast University hospital on Thursday morning.
