The bodies of a mother and teen daughter found in home in Marsfield, Sydney

Police made the grim discovery after they were called to do a welfare check at a suburban home.

A mother and her disabled teenage daughter have been found dead inside their home in Sydney’s north west.

Police were called to a home on Menzies Rd in Marsfield shortly after 10.20am Thursday following welfare concerns.

Jennifer Carrig, 53, and her 13-year-old daughter were reportedly found unconscious in separate bedrooms inside the home.

The pair were found with no obvious signs of injury and a post mortem examination will be conducted to understand how the tragedy occured, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.

Ms Carrig has reportedly lived inside the home for several years with her daughter, who requires full-time care.

Ms Carrig’s best friend Samantha Thomas-Barber described the moter as ”caring” and “thoughtful”.

“A true treasure and warrior … she was the best mumma to her family,” she said, according to the Daily Telegraph.

A neighbour, who has lived on the street her entire life, said she was “devastated” to learn the mother and daughter had died.

“They seemed like a lovely family. There were always people coming and going from the house,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“It’s so sad to think that two of them died.”

Another neighhour Vera Wen said was “totally shocked” by the deaths and is “still shaking” upon learning the tragic news.

“I don’t know the mum very well but we say hello and I would see her with her daughter,” she told the Daily Telegraph.

“She would come out and put her daughter on the bus every day.

“She was a very nice lady, so friendly.”

Several houses along the street remain cordoned off as forensic officers search the home.

Pictures of the scene show children's play equipment in the front yard and butterfly stickers stuck to an upstairs bedroom window.

A crime scene has been established at the property and detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
