Teens charged after allegedly stealing cars, leading police on chase

A group of teenagers who allegedly stole cars and drove around pointing guns into windows of unsuspecting homeowners has been arrested.

Three teenagers who allegedly pointed a gun at people in their homes in Sydney’s west will face court after they led police on a massive chase through the streets in a stolen car.

Police will allege four people forced entry to a home on Montefiore Ave, West Hoxton and stole an Audi Q7 about 3am on November 23.

The group then parked the stolen Audi on Brooklime St, Denham Court, about 4.40am and approached a nearby home waking the occupants.

The four people were allegedly armed with a machete, a knife and a firearm.

Police allege the firearm was pointed at one of the home’s occupants through a window before the group fled in the stolen Audi.

A short time later, the group allegedly approached another home in Wollahan Ave, Denham Court while armed before leaving the scene in the same stolen car.

About 5am, a 22-year-old woman was reversing her VW Golf out the driveway of a home on Macksville St, Hoxton Park, when two men – one allegedly armed with a firearm and the other with a knife – threatened her.

The woman got out of her car and the men drove away in the Golf followed by the rest of the group in the stolen Audi.

The woman was not injured.

Officers patrolling Hoxton Park sighted the Audi travelling on Hoxton Park Road just after 8am and began pursuing the stolen car after it failed to stop.

Police also allege that during the pursuit, the Audi reversed into the front of a fully marked police vehicle at the intersection of North Liverpool Rd and Meadows Rd, Heckenberg, causing minor injuries to a male sergeant.

The Audi then drove east along North Liverpool Rd, where the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

Police later found the abandoned car at the intersection of Sims Place and Bowtell Ave, St Johns Park.

PolAir and the Dog Unit were called to assist in searching for the group.

The search led to the arrest of three teens – aged 17, 14, and 13 – at Chisholm Park.

All three teens are expected to face court on Thursday.

Police are still searching for the other alleged offenders and the stolen Golf.

Anyone with information – or any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – about the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
