‘One of the best people I’ve ever met’: Tears, tributes flow for teen killed in horror e-bike crash in Melbourne’s northeast

Tributes have begun to flow for a 14-year-old who died after his e-bike collided with a car in Melbourne.

The teenage boy who died after his electric motorcycle collided with a four-wheel drive in northeast Melbourne has been identified as Ryley Ziebell, as tragic details about his death emerge.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Chute St, Diamond Creek at about 10pm on Monday.

Police said Ryley was treated at the scene but could not be revived.

Loved ones described the 14-year-old as the “sweetest soul and most loving boy”.

The collision occurred only a few hundred metres from the Year Nine boys home.

His girlfriend Mika Denman told 7News she had spent the day with Ryley and the crash happened shortly after he left her house.

“He was one of the best people I’ve ever met. He really didn’t deserve it,” she said.

“He was really easy to talk to, I could talk to him about anything for hours,” Mika told the Herald Sun.

“He would help me with everything and was great to my parents too.

“This morning I didn’t know if it was real or not.

“I got a bunch of texts from all his friends asking if he was at my house, because his location was still at my house from yesterday,” she said.

“We went to his house this morning and I got to hug his family and say goodbye.”

The driver of the car is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and investigations are ongoing.
