CCTV has captured the dramatic moment a flaming car rolls down an inner Sydney street after a home was sprayed with bullets early on Thursday morning.
Police were called to the property on Davidson Ave, Concord just before 1.10am on Thursday after reports of shots fired at a house.
Officers found damage to the front of the home “consistent with a projectile”, NSW Police have said.
No one was inside the property at the time, and no injuries were reported.
A car was found alight on Stuart St in Burwood a short time later.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
CCTV footage shows the flaming car rolling down Stuart St, with the three occupants who had been in the car seemingly forgetting to activate the handbrake.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.
Detectives are also working to confirm whether the Concord residence was the intended target of the shooting.
A neighbour told Sunrise that he was getting ready for work when he heard gunshots.
“We heard six shots, and we looked out the window and I didn’t see anything,” the man said.
“My wife thought it was wind or some sort of storm noise.
“I said to my wife, ‘That’s not storm noise, (that’s) gunfire’.”
It comes only days after a home in Sydney’s northwest was sprayed with bullets in a late-night shooting that “traumatised” the three people who were inside at the time.
The home on Nangar Crescent in Kellyville was targeted just after 11pm last Wednesday.
Officers found damage to the front door and windows of the home and several glass panels smashed.
Police now believe the shooting was targeted but likely a case of mistaken identity.
No one has been arrested or charged in relation to either incident.
