A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was allegedly shot in the chest at a property in southeast Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Saverin Rd in Eagleby shortly after 10pm on Friday after reports a gun had been fired.

Initial investigations by police suggest a 36-year-old man has sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The man self-presented to Logan Hospital, before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
