‘I can’t believe it’: Local ‘Keno King’ to use winnings on finishing house after $50k cash prize

The winning draw was purchased by a man on an island with a population of just over 3000, and is fondly known by regulars at the local club as the “Keno King”.

A regular Keno player has finally picked up a winning entry in Queensland, taking home a $50k windfall in a recent draw.

The Macleay Island man, known as the ‘Keno King’, nabbed the coveted Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry at Club Macleay on Monday, taking home $51,337.50.

The regular player, who normally played six numbers, decided to “switch it up” and play eight in draw 701.

“I sort of didn’t believe it when it first happened, I went home and jumped on the computer to check it,” he said.

“This win is great timing because it will help us finish building our home.

“I can’t believe it.”

Club Macleay manager Luke Jobson said the small community had been rocked by the big win.

“We’re so excited for our winner and couldn’t be happier that we had sold the major prize-winning entry to a Macleay Island resident,” he said.

“The major prize-winning entry has generated a lot of buzz around the club with many customers on the edge of their seats.

“We love being a part of such a life-changing moment in our patrons’ lives and we hope to create more winning moments in the future.”

This comes after a Dubbo man came forward as Sunday’s mystery Keno winner, discovering he had won more than $330,000 in draw 330 more than three days after the winning numbers were drawn.
