Teenagers accused of violently gang raping a 17-year-old girl in an hours-long ordeal in Sydney allegedly filmed part of the assault on a video call, police have revealed.
Four teenagers - the youngest aged just 14 - have been charged with the sexual assault of the girl in Sydney’s west in December last year, with police saying the alleged attack lasted more than six hours.
Dramatic police footage captured the dawn arrest of the eldest of the alleged group, 19-year-old Adam Abdul-Hamid, in Heckenberg on Tuesday.
The teen was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with five counts of aggravated sex assault-offender in company with other persons.
Arrest footage showed the man’s family members swarming the police and shouting as he was ushered out of the house.
“What have you done to him?” one screamed as police walked through the front yard.
A woman could also be heard shouting: “Shut your mouth, don’t say a word” in Arabic.
Timeline of alleged gang rape emerges
Officers claim the 17-year-old girl was at a shopping centre in Liverpool about 5.30pm on December 15 last year when she was approached by an unknown 16-year-old boy.
Superintendent Jayne Doherty told media on Wednesday that the male had no prior contact with the girl before having a “friendly conversation” with her.
It is alleged the 16-year-old followed the girl to her car, and she “reluctantly” allowed him into her vehicle, where the conversation continued.
“However, the male then (allegedly) sexually assaulted that female,” she said.
Superintendent Doherty said the teen allegedly then made a video call to people “who we will say are his co-accused”.
“And he filmed certain parts of that, sending that through a video call to those other (alleged) offenders,” she said.

Police allege the woman agreed to drive the man to a park in Sadleir on the understanding he would get out of the car when they arrived.
“Feeling that was the only way to get him out of her car, the 17-year-old drove him into Wheat Park,”Superintendent Doherty said.
It is alleged that instead, when they got to the park, another two men got into the car and sexually assaulted the girl.
They were allegedly soon joined by a fourth man who arrived in another car, then continued the assault as the girl was driven around.
“(The group allegedly) took control of the vehicle and drove her in her own car around the suburbs of Sadleir and Miller,” she said.
“They (allegedly) drove rather erratically throughout the time and continued to degrade and assault this victim as they were driving around.”
Police allege that during this time, the group of males “acted together” and created “fear on the victim”, “degrading her while the others offended against her”.
“At times, there was (allegedly) more than one person offending against this poor girl,” Superintendent Doherty said.
Police allege the group left the girl in her car about six hours later at 11.30pm. She was able to contact a friend and report the alleged sex attack to police.
‘Very distraught’: Girl’s alleged six-hour nightmare
Superintendent Doherty said the teenage girl was “very distraught” after the alleged assault, claiming it would stay with her forever.
“The (alleged) victim in this case did nothing wrong. She’s done exactly what any young lady would be doing,” she said.
“It beggars belief that in this day and age that men would (allegedly) think to act this way towards a girl,” she said.
“And to (allegedly) act not just instantaneously, but over a six-hour period, continuing to act together and encourage each other and degrade the victim in the way that they did.
“That type of thinking in any person is just unbelievable and unacceptable to any standards.”
She said the young age of the alleged offenders was “concerning” and described the alleged assault as “predetermined”.
“It beggars belief that someone as young as 14 could (allegedly) have these beliefs and actions,” she said.
“They’ve (allegedly) gone over six hours - they haven’t stopped at a point during that six hours and said, this is wrong, to any of their co-offenders.”
Accused rapist was “chatty” and “friendly” before sexual assault: cops
Superintendent Doherty told 2GB’s Ben Fordham earlier on Wednesday that a 16-year-old boy was “chatty” and “friendly” to the 17-year-old before allegedly assaulting her.
“They agreed to sit and talk and then things (allegedly) turned ugly,” she said, adding the alleged assaults were the “most serious sexual offences you can commit”.
“When the further attacks (allegedly) occurred, being a young female surrounded by four males, you can only imagine the stress she was under and the fear that she would have had,” she said.
Superintendent Doherty alleged the four males attacked the “poor young girl in a pack”, leaving the teenager with lifelong emotional scars.
“It’s horrific,” she said. “It’s even shocked my investigators.”
