67-year-old man’s body found off Gold Coast’s Main Beach

A man’s body has been discovered in the water off a Gold Coast beach. Police say he is a diver who had been reported missing.

A 67-year-old man’s body has been discovered in the ocean off Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The man, whom police believe was a diver, was found about 2km out to sea near Main Beach, early on Monday afternoon.

Queensland Police have confirmed the swimmer’s death, with a spokeswoman saying police were called just after 11am to reports a body had been sighted in the water.

The man, who was from the southeastern Brisbane suburb of Capalaba, had been reported missing earlier that morning.

It is understood the man was diving last night when he went missing.

Police opened an investigation into his death, with a report to be prepared for the Queensland Coroner.
