DARWIN’S most historic day is set to be immortalised in film, with a local historian planning to produce a Bombing of Darwin film.
Bombing of Darwin WWII Heritage Tours operator Garry Gallagher said there was still a long way to go but he wanted it to be a project for the community, by the community.
“We are going live on a crowd funding platform by the end of this week and want everybody to be involved,” he said.

“We believe this will be a very big benefit to the Darwin economy, jobs and tourism.
“It’s everybody’s story, the biggest attack ever on Australian soil … and it’s a story that needs to be told.”
Local author Sean Guy has been tasked with writing the script.
“It’s the best script to write, something that’s so close to home,” he said.
“I’m most excited to bring the story to the rest of Australia and the rest of the world. There’s so many fascinating people and stories here (which) we don’t know about.”

The team hopes to have the script finished this year before filming starts next year.
