The first release sent fans into a frenzy, so it makes sense Hammerbarn is back.
Bluey’s collaboration with hardware giant Bunnings saw pieces become collectors items, re-sold online for substantially increased prices.
A hardware store based on the real life Bunnings featured in an episode of Bluey but was renamed Hammerbarn.
Limited edition staff uniform aprons for example are listed for between $1000 and $3500 alone on eBay.
The same site has a Bluey ‘Hecuba’ gnome with original tag priced at $99, compared to its retail cost of $22.50.
Meeting demand, Bunnings has again partnered with the BBC and Ludo Studio to expand its Bluey’s Hammerbarn collection to include homewares, pet toys and other merchandise, all capitalising on the hugely popular children’s animation franchise that has become a global phenomenon.
“Bluey and Bunnings couldn’t stay apart – the duo just works,” Justine Mills from Bunnings said.
“It’s clear how much fans connect with the show given how quickly last year’s Bluey gnomes flew off the shelves. We know they will be eager to build on their collections and we’re excited to see how customers respond to our new range and in-store activities.”
BBC Studios’ Scott Modra said: “It has been incredible to see how Bluey has become part of the everyday language and play of kids across the country. From the gnomes to the new bedroom range, this collaboration is all about sparking imagination and fun – and we can’t wait to see how fans embrace it this year.”
The original collection featured four gnomes – Hecuba, Jeremy, Meditation and Tony – with three more added to the family, being Bride, Groome and Gerald.
In store from Wednesday and with activations held in stores nationally, the new homewares range includes rugs and paper lanterns, while merchandise offerings are tote bags, keyrings, socks and a bucket hat.
