A 44-year-old Newtown man was killed in a suburban Toowoomba crash on Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the two vehicle crash at Rangeville at 12pm on January 22, however the man succumbed to his critical injuries on Long Street.

A Queensland Police spokesman said police were investigating the crash and looking at whether or not speed played a role.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed was a factor, are continuing,” a police statement read.

The yellow suzuki motorcycle and a white Subaru XV collided on Long Street near Cohoe Street.

The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old woman, was not injured in the crash.

Police are calling on the community to check their dash camera footage to see if they have any footage of the bike prior to the crash.

This week QPS Road Policing and Regional Support Command Acting Chief Superintendent Garrath Channells said 2025 was the deadliest start to the year since 2020.
