HE has a smile as big as the Milky Way, more energy than 10 NASA rocket launches and he’s heading to outer space. Sort of.
Adelaide’s safari-suited organ maestro, Barry Morgan, brings his Spaced Out show to Thornbury Theatre next week because he insists “everything’s better in space”.
Morgan is best remembered for his breakthrough appearance on Spicks and Specks in 2010 (its Facebook page had a record number of hits after the program aired).
He is following up his Home Organ Party Experience with Barry Morgan is ... Spaced Out for one simple reason: “We all need a little space sometimes. With a modern world how do we cope?”
He will be joined by Triple J Unearthed winners Rachel By The Stream — “some groovers that we’ve brought along, we’ll share a spritzer and some space dust and have a chat”.
Musically, Morgan will tackle “all the space classics. I’ve dug up a disco version of the Space Invaders theme from the 20c slot arcade games”.
“I’m going to do a tango version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and the Dr Who theme. We’ll even do The X Files. As a kid, I was cowering in the corner when I heard that.”
