Toowoomba is in for a treat this weekend with some of the best in rugby league heading to the Garden City for a fan-filled weekend ahead of a much-anticipated pre-season game.
Swooning over Pat Carrigan aside, there’s an assortment of other family and fun-filled events happening around the region, from local shows to miniature train rides there’s something for everyone.

1. Brisbane Broncos Toowoomba Fan & Game Day
Broncos fans are in for a treat this weekend as the full squad heads to Toowoomba Sports Ground on Saturday for a training and fan day, with events kicking off at 9am.
Open training and captains run will begin at 10am and a meet and great with fans from 11am.
The fan-filled fun will continue on Sunday when the Broncos go up against the Gold Coast Titans in their pre-season trial game at Toowoomba Sports Ground.
2. Chinchilla Melon Festival
Head out to the Western Downs this weekend for a melon of a time for the annual Chinchilla Melon Festival, with an assortment of crushing good events across the weekend.
Some of the unmissable events include the Saturday Street Parade, Melon Skiing, Melon Bungy, Chariot Race and Iron Man and Woman Race.
3. Clifton Show
Explore the wider Darling Downs and head out to the Clifton Show this Saturday and Sunday with a range of activities and events to keep all ages entertained.
An entry fee for adults and high school students will be charged on both days.
4. Toowoomba Live Steamers Miniature Railway Day
Lemway Park in Kearneys Spring will be buzzing with excitement on Sunday as miniature trains circle the parks railway. Rides will begin at 11am and run until 4pm with a charge of $2 per ride.
5. Galantine’s Party at Tatts Hotel
Grab the girl clan and head to Tatts on Saturday night for an all-female DJ line-up and live music downstairs with themed cocktail cups and free pink sunglasses.
6. Super Saturday Swap Meet
Head out to the Toowoomba showgrounds for a day of guided tours hosted by DownsSteam Tourist Railway & Museum, as well as a sausage sizzle, Heritage Bus joy rides and more.
7. Rosalie House annual Grape Stomp & Sunset Session
Join Rosalie House for their annual charity grape stomp and an afternoon of food, wine and picnics with live music from 2pm on Sunday.
8. Take a Hike
Explore the regions many walking trails and soak up the sun while taking in breathtaking views from Table Top Mountain, Redwood Park, Mount Peel and Ravensbourne National Park.
9. Parkrun
Keep the full plate of Christmas celebrations from your waist by joining in on the weekly parkrun in Queens Park on Saturday morning from 7am.
