1/4 million raised from Road Boss Rally’s epic finale in Western Australia

SHIPPING 6000 litres of fuel into an Australian desert and packing enough food and water to be completely self-sufficient were just some of the challenges faced by participants of an inaugural fundraising rally formed in Toowoomba.

Road Boss Rally was the brain child of rally king Jamie Lawson. The event was split up into two types - part one which left from Wellcamp Airport earlier this month and finished in Port Macquarie. Then the super addition which left from Port Macquarie and travelled cross-country to Western Australia.

But the epic journey is all over now and Pittsworth lads Brad Hudson, Shayne Moore and Lionel Moore are the official rally winners of the super addition track.

Mr Lawson said the challenging rally, which tackled the famous Anne Beadell Highway in the Great Victoria Desert, tested the ability of all participants.

"Right from the beginning it was a huge task, no other event has taken that path across Australia so we knew what we were up against," he said.

"Without question, the most difficult part was crossing Anne Beadell Highway though the Great Victoria Desert, the whole event was long, hard, tough (and) difficult but that middle part made it very unique and special.''

The rally raised $250,000 for GIVIT, a national not-for-profit service connecting those who have with those who need, in a private and safe way.

Oakey man John Schefe was awarded with the rally's pinnacle prize the Supreme GIVIT Everything Award which goes to a person who embraces everything the event is about.

Mr Lawson said the award could not be won, only earned and commended Mr Schefe for his mateship.

People are already signing up for next year's rally which will be a different but just as epic route.
