The festive season is officially upon us and there is no shortage of Christmas events taking place across the region.

From stunning light shows to Christmas concerts, check out all the action this weekend across the Darling Downs.

1. Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland

Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland is a traditional Christmas light display held annually in December in the Queens Park Botanical Gardens in Lindsay St, Toowoomba. Enjoy the traditional displays, as well as local entertainment on the main stage, dance groups and roving entertainers.

Operating nightly from 7pm to 10pm until Christmas Eve there’s something for the whole family with barbecue, free ice creams for children, tea and coffee, Christmas raffles, Lions cakes and puddings and a model train and miniature village on display.

2. Christmas concert Christmas Together

A mother-daughter duo will bring festive cheer this Saturday with their annual Christmas concert, raising funds for cancer patients.

The much beloved Toowoomba Christmas concert Christmas Together, hosted by Kreation Music, will return on Saturday with all proceeds going to support cancer wellness centre Hope Horizons.

Featured in this year’s line-up are local talent Toowoombells Handbell Choir, Bell’Amore, Amity Quartet, Akash Rooney, David Hedges and Camillo Lanzafami Jr and more.

Christmas Together kicks off on Saturday, December 6 from 2pm at the Middle Ridge Uniting Church Auditorium.

3. Toowoomba Farmer’s Markets

There is something for everyone at the popular Toowoomba farmers markets, from fresh meats, fruit and vegetables to honeys, breads and local spirits, so head on down to the windmills at Cobb & Co from 7am to 12pm to stock up for the week ahead.

If you miss out on Saturday’s action there is also the Toowoomba PCYC Market at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm on Sunda

4. Toowoomba Collectormania

Join in at the next fair – Toowoomba Collectormania – Christmas Antique, Collectable and Record Fair.

This will be the last chance for you to purchase your vintage Christmas treasures. Discover a treasure trove of vintage and antique delights, including pottery and porcelain, vintage tools and man cave/shed items, records and music memorabilia, antique jewellery – gold, silver, jade, ivory and more, coins and banknotes, stamps and collectables, vintage toys and dolls, homewares and kitchenalia – retro to rustic, coloured, uranium and opalescent glassware, haberdashery and linen, vintage fashion and accessories, Chinese and Japanese antiques, oil lamps, art deco, retro and eclectic treasures.

The fair is on Saturday and Sunday from 9am at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.

5. Toowoomba Khukuri Cup

The Queensland Nepalese community’s biggest soccer event is on this Sunday with the return of the Toowoomba Khukuri Cup.

Held at the West Wanderers Football Club on 411 Hume St, Toowoomba the free family event will feature elite competition from the top clubs across Queensland with $10,600 in prize money up for grabs. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place as well as player of the tournament, best player of the final, highest goal scorer and best goalkeeper. Mouth watering Nepalese cuisine will also be available all day.

6. Colour Frenzy Fun Run/Walk

Embrace the colour and get your heart pumping at this ultimate fun run/walk. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or casual stroller, this event is perfect for everyone. Expect plenty of colour, bubbles, obstacle courses, and more.

Tickets online, the run starts from 8.30am on Sunday at Newtown Park.

7. Volcanic Brewing 7th Birthday Celebrations

Volcanic Brewing is celebrating seven years of craft beer and community, inviting everyone to join in the fun. Guests can enjoy freshly smoked food, live entertainment, and fundraising activities in support of Protea Place. As 2025 draws to a close, it’s the perfect opportunity to come together and toast to another fantastic year.

The part is on Sunday 12-6pm at Volcanic Brewing, 161 James St, Shop 1, Toowoomba.

8. DownsSteam Christmas Lights Train

Celebrate the magic of the season aboard DownsSteam’s Christmas Light Railmotor Adventure — a festive evening outing perfect for families and friends. The train leaves at 7pm Saturday from Toowoomba Railway Station.

9. Parkrun

Lace up your trainers and walk, jog or run through Queens Park or Middle Ridge Park on Saturday morning. The group starts at 7am every weekend. Register at parkrun.com.au.

10. Peak and Repeat

Peak and Repeat invites you to escape the daily grind and connect with nature and others through their fortnightly hikes in Toowoomba.

Join for relaxed walks, fresh air, and great company — no pressure, just good vibes. Whether you’re seeking a break from work, social interaction, or simply a love for hiking, come along and try something new.

The social catch-up will be held at 5pm on Saturday afternoon hiking Mount Peel and leaving from the Westminster carpark
