Australia Post is investigating a road rage incident involving a postie and an elderly driver who nearly struck him on a roundabout.

Furious postie unleashes on elderly driver

A postie has been filmed shouting at an elderly driver and reducing her to tears after she nearly hit him on a Gold Coast roundabout.

The postman, driving a three-wheeled electric delivery vehicle, was seen berating an older woman as she was pulled over on Monaco St at Broadbeach Waters on Monday morning.

“You’re supposed to give way at the roundabout,” the man is heard yelling in footage of the incident aired by 9 News.

“You’re supposed to stop at the roundabout.

“Why were you not seeing me?”

The road rage was quickly interrupted by bystander Melissa Burrows, who ran to the aid of the 80-year-old driver named Kay, camera in hand.

“She’s an older lady,” Ms Burrows is heard telling the postie.

“She’s scared. Please stop.”

The elderly driver is shown in tears.

“I didn’t see you,” she tells the postie.

Ms Burrows then threatens to call the police on the postie, who responds with a “go away”.

“Leave her alone and let her go,” she said.

“Can you just slow down next time, please?” the postie asks the elderly woman.

“I’m so sorry I didn’t see you,” Kay reaffirms.

“I didn’t even touch him, but I didn’t see him either.

‘I can’t believe how he’s reacted.”

Ms Burrows later told the broadcaster the incident was “absolutely horrifying” and a “tirade of incredible abuse”.

She added: “You wouldn’t expect to see a road rage postie - they’re an Aussie icon.”

Australia Post told news.com.au an investigation will be conducted reviewing video captured before and after the incident.

“Australia Post’s Electric Delivery Vehicles (eDVs) are equipped with on-board telematics which capture video footage and data designed to help keep our people safe on the roads,” a spokesperson said.
