Police investigating car crushed by lounge in Ultimo, Sydney

A car has been written off in Sydney overnight – but not in a way you are ever likely to have seen. Police are investigating the bizarre incident.

Police say they are “inquiring” after a car was written off in the most unusual of circumstances in Sydney overnight.

The black Toyota Yaris was parked on Jones St, Ultimo, on Thursday night when it appears to have been crushed by a lounge.

A NSW Police spokesperson said Sydney City Police Area Command officers attended the scene at 10.30pm following reports of a damaged car.

They said the driver parked their car at 6.30pm.

“Upon the driver’s return, he reportedly found a lounge had landed on the vehicle, crushing the roof,” the spokesperson said.

“Inquiries into the incident continue.”
