A car burst into flames in the middle of a motorway in Melbourne’s southeast and has caused major traffic delays for morning commuters.
All Peninsula Link citybound lanes that were intitially closed over Frankston-Dandenong Rd have now re-opened, though traffic remains heavily congested from Golf Links Road with delays of up to 40 minutes.
The Frankston Freeway or Western Port Highway can be used as alternative routes to avoid delays, Transport Victoria said.
“We thank motorists for their patience as emergency services conducted investigations.”
Drivers can check real-time traffic conditions at traffic.transport.vic.gov.au or the latest public transport information at ptv.vic.gov.au or in the PTV mobile app.
