Maxus V90 Life Home Villa is a two storey motor home

An amazing motor home that would make any road-tripper or grey nomad green with envy has been revealed. But the price is out of this world.

If sold in Australia the Villa Edition would likely cost north of $700,000.

Australians pride themselves on a palatial caravan hooked up to a suitably adventurous 4WD or a ritzy motor home, but Chinese car maker Maxus may have created the most sumptuous way to hit the road.

The Maxus V90 Life Home Villa Edition looks like a regular chrome-covered van when on the road, but it transforms into a futuristic two-storey home once parked up.

The Villa Edition takes pop-top camping to a new level – with the ability to create camp site envy at the push of a button.

Key to its smarts are side walls that slide out to widen the living area and make the kitchen that touch easier to cook in. There’s even a bathroom with shower, while the bed sits in the curved pod above the cabin.

An L-shaped couch gives the motor home a homey feel.

Quality finishes and the L-shaped lounge look like they’ve been lifted from a display home and the images suggest there’s ample space inside.

But it’s on the roof where things get interesting. The flagship version of the Maxus V90 gets a glass-walled sunroom that extends out of the roof.

There is a washing machine and dining table.

Windows on all four walls are designed to provide a panoramic view of the surroundings and they can even be darkened at the press of a button using polychromatic technology that Maxus says “greatly enhances the artistic and futuristic feeling”.

As for getting to the upper level, forget stairs and leg work: the Villa Edition has its own single-person elevator that makes transporting the Champagne to the top level that little bit easier.

There are multiple full-sized beds.

There’s even a small balcony for added top floor fresh air.

You’d be right in guessing such campground opulence doesn’t come cheap.

In China it retails for the equivalent of about $520,000. Throw in our taxes and that’ll get closer to $700K.

The Maxus brand isn’t sold in Australia but its vehicles are sold here under the LDV brand that is also part of the giant SAIC stables.

If sold in Australia the Villa Edition would likely cost north of $700,000.

As for the chances of seeing one Down Under, there are currently no plans.

LDV importer Ateco Automotive says “we would look at all product that’s available in right-hand drive but currently there are no plans”.

Oh well, back to the LandCruiser and a Jayco …
