Alfa Romeo has announced it is sending off its Giulietta hot hatch with a final edition. The hot hatch will disappear for good from showrooms globally this year.

Alfa Romeo has never been a big seller in Australia but its driver-focused machines have earned it a cult following.

Alfa Romeo is farewelling its Giulietta hatch with its Edizione Finale.

Only 35 examples of the Volkswagen Golf GTI rival will be available in Australia with prices starting from $48,950 (before on-road costs).

The Giulietta Edizione Finale is powered by a 1.75-litre turbocharged petrol engine making a healthy 177kW and 340Nm and is paired to six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

It is based on the well equipped Veloce version and comes with luxuries such as heated front leather seats and a contrast yellow stitched leather trimmed steering wheel and floor mats.

On the exterior it features 18-inch alloy wheels, extensive yellow highlights and a sports exhaust.

Alfa Romeo is ending production of the Giulietta globally.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was first revealed back in 1954 and has existed in several forms during the past 60 years.

Alfa Romeo is on the ropes in Australia with the Italian brand only moving 134 units through the first three months of 2021, which is a decline of close to 30 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.

The majority of sales have been of its excellent Giulia sedan with the Giulietta the next bestseller having sold 35 examples.

The handsome Alfa Romeo Giulia is the brand’s best selling model in Australia.

Alfa Romeo’s parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently merged with French car making giant Peugeot-Citroen and the future of several brands under this umbrella could be up for debate as the new company looks to cut costs.

Alfa Romeo has previously stated its focus would be on SUVs and it plans to replace the Giulietta with a small SUV named Tonale, which has been delayed several times already.
