The decorated photographer said there were several reasons why he considered he had one of the best jobs in the world, including having the most beautiful offices available

“Photography is my passion which means I get to travel to beautiful locations all across the country with my family and photograph incredible landscapes and wildlife,” Scott said.

“I am more or less my own boss so I get to decide where and when I visit different locations and share my adventures with people from all around the world.”

Scott earns his living several ways, including a self-curated gallery at Burleigh Heads, an ambassador role with Tourism Australia and Queensland, along with content creation contracts.

“Essentially I sell my images, videos and content created on the road to several different agencies and businesses, while agreeing with the state government to do a certain amount of trips each year in Queensland,” Scott said.

With 24 years experience in the photography industry, Scott’s photography journey had humble beginnings, dating back to when he was an apprentice electrician.

“My wife’s father is into photography so we on a trip back in the day with a film camera, before I got my first DLR camera at a pawnbrokers in Tasmania,” he said.

When quizzed on his favourite place he had travelled to, Scott said it was a difficult call to make given every state in the country had its own hidden gem.

“Everywhere has been pretty amazing, the West Australian Coral Coast sticks out to me, but its hard to pick because everywhere has its own piece of paradise,” he said. “A lot of people focus on the social media attention photography get, if you are in it for that you are in it for the wrong reason,” he said.

“Your goal has to be the passion and the love for what you are doing, that’s what I have got.

“Its important to love the process, not just want to be a famous photographer, you have got to love taking photographs.”
