Disney fans know that in every film there is likely going to be a subtle hint of another popular Disney character or iconic scene from another Disney film to keep us on our toes.

They're called "Easter Eggs" and die-hard fans are always on the lookout for them.

One fan theory that has been around for a while is one that connects cult classics The Little Mermaid, Frozen, and Tangled.

According to the theory, the characters in each film are closely connected and it all begins with the death of Queen Elsa and Anna's parents who both died while travelling out at sea.

TikTok proves the Disney long-running fan theory

Mirza Bico (aka @ellentvshow) took to Instagram to discuss the fan theory, providing video proof of how the characters are connected.

"We know Anna and Elsa's parents died in a shipwreck," the fan begins.

Writer and director of Frozen, Jennifer Lee, has confirmed in the past that the parents were indeed on their way to a wedding - Rapunzel and Flynn's wedding to be exact.

And in a scene from the popular film, we see the newlyweds at Elsa's coronation.

The shipwrecks in the films tell us a lot

But that's not all.

Mirza then goes on to analyse just where the shipwreck might've occurred.

"Since Arandelle is in Norway and they leave for Rapunzel's Kingdom in Germany, it means the shipwreck happened in the sea of Denmark," the video suggests.

And that's where Ariel and all of her sea friends come into it.

Wild Disney theory shows how The Little Mermaid, Tangled and Frozen are connected

Denmark is reportedly where The Little Mermaid is set and as many fans would know, Ariel is seen playing around a popular shipwreck in the opening scenes of the much-loved film.

According to fans, that shipwreck could be the ship that Elsa and Anna's parents perished in on their way to the wedding.

"That's the shipwreck Ariel sees at the beginning of the movie," the video concludes.

But is this theory actually true?

While the theory has blown many minds online, a lot of fans have called out all of the flaws to do with the theory.

Firstly, there's the whole storyline of Frozen 2, which basically tells us where Elsa and Anna's parents were headed when they set sail.

"Frozen 2 destroys this theory, as the parents were not on their way to any wedding but to Ahtohallan for answers about Elsa's powers," one fan points out.

"I honestly love this theory more than what they actually did with it in Frozen 2….missed opportunity for sure!!" another added.

Meanwhile, others were quick to add another theory about how Tarzan is also connected.

"Don’t forget to add Tarzan’s theory in that," one fan commented.

And another knew exactly what the Tarzan theory was: "There was the other theory that their parents actually didn’t die, but that they’re actually the adults at the beginning of the movie Tarzan. Which would that Tarzan is Anna and Elsa’s long lost brother."

What do you think? Connected or not?
