Wackadoo! There’s an extended Bluey theme song and it’s a cracker

To close off the month-long celebration of Bluey's fifth birthday, we've got more dancing, more cameos, more music and more awesome.

Bluey extended theem song

We’re coming to the end of Bluey Fest, the month-long celebration of the loved Aussie animated show’s fifth birthday, and the festivities are going out with a bang in the form of a new theme song.

Fans are being treated to an extended version of the Bluey theme song, and it’s better than ever.

The Heelers are all there, playing Musical Statues, just like always.

But then we get to the bit where Bingo goes out and suddenly the camera pans to wide.

An electric guitar starts a solo over the iconic tune and more dogs join the game.

There’s Heeler cousins, Muffin and Socks, Snickers, Winton, Pompom and Rusty.

Rusty is part of the party not only because he’s a great character, but because he’s star of Cricket, the episode picked as Australia’s number one favourite episode of Bluey.

Fans vote their top 10 favourite Bluey episodes ever

The results are in, and fans have voted Cricket as the hands down, number one episode in five years of Bluey.

We all know the episode, with Rusty being the dog that no kid and no dad can bowl out.

The episode was so popular, it had more viewers than the actual cricket – it beat out Australia’s World Test championship match against India.

“Cricket worked its way into every corner of my life as a kid,” Bluey creator Joe Brumm said in a statement.

“This episode uses cricket of course but it’s representative of whatever sport you had growing up that united your family and friends.”

Bluey Cricket episode voted number one

The Cricket episode starts with Bandit and the dads playing cricket with Bluey and Bingo. Rusty gets called in for a fateful bat.

Bandit declares they can play a different game after he gets Rusty out.

“You’ll never get Rusty out,” Bluey says.

“I think I can handle it,” Bandit replies as he runs forward to bowl.

Rusty returns the ball straight past Bandit’s head.

Rusty was great because he practiced. He played all day with his brother and sister, “and when they weren’t around, he played by himself,” Bandit narrated.

The dads all had a plan to get Rusty out. “I had no chance,” Bandit admitted.

Everyone had a go, but no one could beat him.

That is, until Lucky’s dad was bowling, and Rusty’s little sister Dusty was playing. Thinking about a letter his dad sent him from his military tour overseas, Rusty decides that more important than winning is to take care of his siblings.

“Lucky's dad put everything he had into that ball. And Rusty could have smashed it into next week if he wanted to. But instead, he hit his little sister a catch.”

The look on Dusty's face when the ball landed in her little paws was all worth it.

We’re not crying, you’re crying.
