US reality star makes $70,000 selling her farts in jars

She launched her business last month after noticing a gap in the “niche” market for scented products – and has so far made a huge return.

Reality star makes $70k selling her own farts

Thanks to the internet the ways you can make money are pretty much limitless these days — as one US reality star has learnt after making more than $70,000 for selling an, ahem, interesting personal product.

Stephanie Matto has appeared in several seasons of 90 Day Fiance, a documentary series that follows couples from different countries navigating their relationship and the US legal system.

While appearing on the reality show has given her fame, it’s another unique venture that Stephanie started which has seen her make serious bank.

As well as running her own subscription website selling adult content, Stephanie has started selling her farts in a jar.

Stephanie documented the process in a now-viral TikTok last month, revealing how her typical work day involved getting “things rolling” with beans, a protein muffin, hard-boiled eggs, a protein shake and yoghurt for breakfast.

After doing her business into the jars, Stephanie adds several finishing touches to make the farts more personal.

“I like to add a little flower petals,” she said. “I feel like they attach the scent and make it last longer. And when I’m finally finished with my jar, I like to leave a personalised note.”

The jars normally cost $US1000 ($A1400) each, but in the video Stephanie revealed she was currently selling them half price for a limited time only.

In a follow-up video Stephanie revealed she had made $US45,000 ($A63,085) in just a few days after going viral with her new venture.

She also did a tongue-in-cheek Q&A session about her farts business, revealing the scent in the jar was “most prominent for the first two days”.

Stephanie said that she believed most people were buying her farts “because I have a really good personality, and also because I’m hot”.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Stephanie said she has since made over $US50,000 ($A70,095) from selling her farts in jars, with her inbox “flooded daily” with request for the scented product.

“I have also been getting requests for videos of me creating the jars. I think I’ve really tapped into a huge market, and there seems to be endless potential,” she said.

Stephanie said she came up with the idea after realising there was demand for “super niche” products like jars in farts.

“Working on my own adult-friendly platform these past few months has made me very aware of the different types of niches and markets that are out there,” she said.

“Over the years, I’ve gotten a few messages from men and women wanting to buy my worn bras, panties, hair, bath water, etc. I thought farts were super niche, but also something fun, quirky, and different. It’s almost like a novelty item!”
