Radio presenter David “Luttsy” Lutteral has made a return to the dating scene.
The Nova 106.9 breakfast host attended the recent Cali Beach opening party on the Gold Coast with Brisbane local Tamisha Franz, a vet nurse and practice manager.
After being spotted at a number of events together, Lutteral and Franz were snapped arm-in-arm by the poolside cabanas at the star-studded launch party.
While Confidential hears there’s nothing official between the pair, they also both attended the opening of Fortitude Valley bar Hey Chica the week prior.
“I do my best to not end up in a compromising position”: Luttsy reveals Brisbane party scene
It comes after Lutteral split from girlfriend, swimmer Emily Seebohm, early this year after more than a year of dating.
While they didn’t publicly address the break-up, sources sited differing lifestyles for the strain on the high-profile couple’s relationship.
Seebohm has also moved on, debuting her new boyfriend in May ahead of her Tokyo Olympics bid.
A STEP FORWARD
Queensland fashion retailer Urbbana is banking on an innovative custom shoe feature to bring customers back into stores.
The brand is set to move into the coveted Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast next month to become the only independently-owned Australian label positioned in the centre’s luxury precinct.
The store will feature technology that allows customers to custom make a leather shoe.
“An exciting project we’ve been working on is the development of a 3D configuration tool that allows customers to design their perfect shoes, while actually feeling different types of leather in store – including exotic leather like snakeskin, alligator and ostrich,” national manager Kaan Tavli said.
The Gold Coast expansion joins Urbbana’s existing stores in Brisbane’s CBD and Hamilton.
“We’re very excited to introduce our unique brand to the Gold Coast market – but it wasn’t an easy road,” designer Sam Abi said.
“Like many other retailers, Urbbana did have some dark days during the Covid pandemic. Fortunately, this pressure put us in a position to innovate and make changes to the way we interact with shoppers in a post-Covid climate”.
Meanwhile Victorian lingerie brand Brava, an expert in D-cup and bra fitting, has launched its first Queensland concept store, moving into James St with a grand opening held on Thursday.
International luxury line Ewa Bien will be exclusive to Brava Brisbane.
OH, BROTHER
Alli Simpson plans to release a new song she co-wrote alongside brother Cody Simpson following her appearance on The Masked Singer.
The Gold Coast actor and singer hadn’t released new music in a number of years before returning to the stage on the Channel 10 reality show, being unmasked on Tuesday night.
Cody, who returned from Los Angeles to the Gold Coast this year, won the first season of the show and has subsequently been helping his sister produce a new single, called Love You More Than You Know, which they will release soon.
“I haven’t released music for three or four years. This sparked my love for singing again and music,” Alli said.
“I’ve now decided to work on a song that I’ll probably release in the next two weeks.”
“I’ve been passionate about it since the show. I’ve been working on it with my brother Cody.”
Alli moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12 with her family when they followed Cody to the US, after he shot to stardom through singing videos posted to YouTube.
There, she hosted a radio show for Disney and also recorded her own music before returning to Australia, where she appeared on the most recent season of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here and has also been a part of a SBS series Filthy Rich and Homeless.
On working with her brother, Alli said: “It’s so nice. Cody is so talented with his songwriting and producing skills so it’s realty fun to be able to work on something now that we are all back on the Gold Coast.”
Alli watched Cody compete on the first season of The Masked Singer and had wanted to take part since.
“I always thought how fun it looked,” she said.
“Cody just said have fun with it. I don’t really perform live and hadn’t in a long time. I didn’t think people would guess my voice.”
“I though the guesses were so funny. The judges so far from me I was trying not to laugh behind my mask.”
“I was super nervous to watch it back. I ended up being really stoked with it and I’m getting a really great response online. It’s been really positive.”
A RED-LETTER DAY
Even from a distance, Jess Skarratt was shocked by the devastating effects of kidney disease.
The Brisbane presenter has been supporting a close friend whose father battled the illness, requiring ongoing dialysis and a kidney transplant to save his life.
She has subsequently signed on with Kidney Health Australia to MC their Red Socks Walk next Sunday, October 10, at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
“I wasn’t even really aware of how insidious this disease is,” said Skarratt, from Channel 7’s Weekender.
“Just seeing how much it’s devastated (my friend’s) family … it’s heartbreaking, it’s horrible. I just wasn’t aware of how many people it affected and how incredibly life changing it is.”
“You can lend moral and emotional support but this Red Socks Walk is a great way to feel like you’re actually making a difference and raising funds.”
There are 25,000 Australians living with kidney disease, which has no cure, and most require 60 hours or more each month hooked up to dialysis.
Actor Michala Banas, who is in Brisbane for her starring role in Queensland Theatre’s Boy Swallows Universe, is the ambassador for the event, having had most of her left kidney removed in a lifesaving operation when she was six.
She is hoping to attend the walk if she can fit it around her stage commitments.

A NEW FESTIVAL HOPE
Music festival This That will head to Brisbane early next year with a host of Aussie favourites.
During the week festival organisers announced the event’s first-ever Queensland run, held at Sandstone Point on March 5.
The stacked line-up includes indie rockers Spacey Jane, Hayden James, The Presets, Dune Rats, Client Liaison, Meg Mac and local group The Chats, joining The Rubens, San Cisco and Jack River.
All tickets purchased for the 2020 and 2021 event dates are automatically valid for 2022 as festival organisers look towards a revitalised industry in the new year.
It comes as music festival Savannah In the Round, held in Far North Queensland this weekend, became the first music festival to host a vaccination hub at the event after partnering with Queensland Health.
Free jabs were offered to all guests at a purpose-created facility at the Mareeba site.
“We have worked hard for over two years now on ensuring our Covid plan is best practice, and while we’re proud of the event we’ll be delivering to the Tropical North this weekend, we are urging our patrons to join us in getting the jab so that normal life can be just around the corner,” event director James Dein said during the week.
10 QUESTIONS WITH... JACKIE-O
1. Who was your teen idol/ crush? Definitely Matt Goss from Bros. That’s really showing my age isn’t it?
2. Who are your three ideal dinner guests? Ooooh if we are looking at absolutely anybody, I would choose Gary Vee (he is a genius and why not learn something). My bestie Kyle to keep things funny and not boring and of course the goddess of our time Rihanna. I’ve met her many times and she is great company. Such a cool person.
3. What’s your worst date experience? God my memory doesn’t stretch back that far! Ha ha.
4. What’s the movie that made you cry? Ohhh that’s a hard one. I’ve cried during so many movies, but I think the one that got me uncontrollably sobbing was Marley and Me. As soon as a pet dies in a film – I’m a goner.
5. Which song do you sing in the car? Oh god this is embarrassing, I’m still a sucker for boy bands, particularly Backstreet Boys, so as soon as I hear Larger Than Life the volume is up and I am singing my heart out.
6. What’s your favourite movie or TV series you never admit to loving? Baby I’m proud of everything I watch. Real Housewives, MAFS, I’m a Celebrity, Amazing Race, Survivor. I love reality TV and I’m not ashamed to say it.
7. What’s the most sentimental thing you own? My mum designed a beautiful necklace for me, it’s rose gold and has an arrow filled with little diamonds. It’s very dainty and so elegant. I know that when I wear it I have her protection.
8. What was the last thing you Googled? Mmmmm let me check. Hang on … … oh that’s right. Kitty is obsessed with Norris nuts (Northern Beaches YouTube family, they are fab) so she wanted me to watch their latest episode.
9. What’s your most embarrassing moment? Gosh I don’t think I can say. They are too embarrassing. Just google them. I’m sure you’ll find it!
10. What’s on your bucket list? To travel with my daughter. We want to go to Paris, New York and Italy. We talk about it all the time. I will never take travelling for granted again. We are so excited when we can finally do our trip. We made a promise that when we go to New York, we have to wear our gossip girl clothes (all my Chanel and Burberry clothes are coming out of storage) it’s going to be fun.
