Threatening anonymous letters written to Brisbane dog owner

A woman wants to find the furious neighbour who left a threatening note outside her home, and it’s sparked a real local row.

A woman has been sent threatening letters from an anonymous neighbour calling her dogs “stupid mongrels” and “brainless mutts”.

Taken aback by the aggressive handwritten notes, the Brisbane pet owner shared pictures to a community Facebook page addressing the person who penned them.

“Dogs need a yard. If you insist on having dogs (especially a big one) in a unit the size of a large toilet – get the stupid brainless mutts a barking collar each and have a bit of consideration for others for once,” one note read.

Another said: “This is your last warning, your stupid mongrels bark non-stop, all day. Fix it or get reported to the authorities.”

The woman defended herself, claiming she did in fact have bark collars for the dogs and worked from home five days a week, but had only been out twice without the dogs having collars on.

“I decided to work from my dance studio once last week and went to the mall over the weekend for a few hours without putting the bark collars on them as we’re trying to train them to eventually not need them,” she wrote.

She also explained why she was in an apartment, saying she had been priced out of renting a house.

“Our previous five-bedroom home with a double garage and large wraparound yard to accommodate our dogs shot up in rent, hence we now live in a small two bedroom unit with a courtyard,” she said.

“So forgive them and forgive us for it’s a huge adjustment to us all.”

She said it was not an ideal living situation but assured her dogs were loved and cared for.

“If you’re so passionate about having an opinion on where I should live, please feel free to find me a larger home and pay my rent, until then, on ya bike,” she added.

The woman suggested she may know who the disgruntled neighbour is, saying she herself had once confronted “the Karen of all Karen’s” about their dog barking constantly at night, waking up her young daughter.

She said she wanted the writer of the notes to speak to her directly “like a grown adult”.

But some people in the community warned her against confronting the furious neighbour in person.

“You never know who you are dealing with. Not all neighbours are respectful or responsible even when you yourself have the best intentions. Just be careful,” one commented.

“This is a threat, call the police. It is not your place to deal with these matters,” advised another.
