Organisers of The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane have launched a flash 72-hour sale allowing participants to save on their entry fee.
To launch this year’s event the 20 per cent off deal will be available across the 10km and 4.5km programs until 11.59am on Tuesday, June 13.
It’s never been done before in the history of The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane, but will spark a race of early entries.
An estimated 25,000 runners and walkers of all ages and abilities will take part in the iconic community event on Sunday, October 15.
The Sunday Mail editor Anna Caldwell said the annual event was a must for avid athletes and Sunday strollers.
“The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is one of our city’s great community events, bringing together people of all abilities and aspirations,” she said.
“It’s also a critical fundraising drive for charities helping Queenslanders in need.
“With our key partners Transurban and Event Management Solutions Australia, this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.”
The 10km course will follow a similar route to last year, from the Murarrie end of the Gateway Bridge, crossing the Brisbane River to Eagle Farm and along Kingsford Smith Drive to Newstead and Bowen Hills before finishing at Brisbane Showgrounds.
The 4.5km course will start at Hercules Park at Hamilton before winding along Kingsford Smith Drive, looping back through Bowen Hills and finishing at the Brisbane Showgrounds Finish Village.
Transurban Queensland group executive Sue Johnson said the toll road operator was delighted to return as the event’s naming rights sponsor for its third year.
“We are excited to dust off our joggers and once again partner with The Sunday Mail on this unique celebration of Brisbane’s active lifestyle,” Ms Johnson said.
“The amazing views that can be seen from the top of our iconic Gateway Bridge make the start to the event well worth the climb.”
After the flash sale, early bird pricing will run from June 14 to August 13.
General entries will close Saturday, October 14.
All entrants receive an event T-shirt, race number, a finisher’s medal and certificate, event timing and free public transport to and from the event.
Brisbane Broncos player, Billy Walters, said the event was a good way to get out and be active while raising funds for charity.
“Health and fitness is important as well as raising awareness to these causes,”
Billy’s fiance Rachel Ownsworth said B2B was such a great morning in general when she participated in 2017.
“Definitely give it a go,” she said.
Event Management Solutions Australia director Ian Harwood said the “special” event allowed runners, joggers, walkers and pram-pushers to see Brisbane from a completely different perspective.
“That unmistakeable image you see every year of thousands of people crossing the Gateway Bridge early on a Sunday morning – that’s hard to beat,” he said.
