The genius hack for de-stemming herbs quickly and easily

A woman has shared her secret for quick meal prep, and you'll never cut herbs the same way again.

Amazing herb hack stuns internet

Love it or hate it, coriander is one of the most divisive herbs out there.

Whether you love it to garnish your fish tacos or think it tastes like soap and belongs in the bin, there's one thing we can all agree on — preparing it ALWAYS sucks.

Same goes with any leafy herb, really, like dill, mint and parsley. Picking herb leaves off their stems is a tedious task.

But thanks to a video going viral on Instagram right now, your patience (and fingers) will finally get a break.

The hack lets an everyday kitchen staple do all the work for you, and surprisingly, it actually works. No need for a single-purpose herb stripper that will only clog up your drawers... because you definitely have this tool in your kitchen already.

The herb-cutting hack that will save you time and effort

So, what's the hack?

Basically, you use a cheese grater to de-stem your herbs for you. Just gently feed the stem of your herb through the holes, working from the outside of the grater and pulling inwards.

The leaves will perfectly separate from the stem, leaving you with a ready-to-go pile of perfectly plucked leaves.

Hot tip: make sure you don't overcrowd your grater with too much of the herb. Just feed a few through at a time - trust us, the hack will still save you more time than if you did it manually.

Also, make sure you use a grater with holes big enough for your herb of choice.

For example, for coriander or rosemary, you'll want to use the medium to large grate but for a thinner herb, like dill, you might be better off letting a small to medium grate do the heavy lifting.

Oh, and if you don't have a grater, a colander or fork should also do the trick.

"This would be great for my kids to get involved"

People in the comments couldn't get enough of this time-saving hack, with many vowing to "never cut herbs the same way again."

"I love this idea," said one person, while another added, "This would be great for my kids to get involved in cooking," and someone else said, "Looks so simple!"

Meanwhile, others wondered why they hadn't thought of the hack sooner.

"Dammm, the amount of time I've spent doing that, it's felt like such a chore," someone wrote.

Another said, "I always palm off this task to my boyfriend, lol, guess I'm doing it from now on."

However, not everyone was sold on the concept. "You're telling me this is meant to be faster? Nah, looks way more fiddly," one woman pointed out.

Another mentioned that "most of the flavour of coriander is in the stems" while someone else said, "Cutting off the leaves with scissors is 100x easier than this."

Personally, I think this looks like it'd be worth a shot! Anything to make meal prep easier, I'm there.
