A viral Australian TikTok hack is hitting the aisles at Bunnings, with a popular plumbing fitting becoming increasingly difficult to track down in Queensland stores.

A TikTok made by an Australian woman, which showed her creating a cup holder for the popular Frank Green water bottle, was quick to gain popularity with videos of the hack surpassing three million views.

The hack involves creating a DIY cup holder from PVC pipe adaptors, a common plumbing fitting found in most hardware stores, to fit water bottles too large for standard car cup holders.

The makeshift holder fits into the existing cup space, acting as an extender.

National plumbing buyer for Bunnings, Henry Fudge, said extra stock has been ordered to keep up with growing demand for the fittings.

“We’ve seen plenty of customers try the clever water bottle holder hack using our PVC fitting with some of our store teams even getting in on the trend and creating in-store displays to make sure customers can easily find it,” Mr Fudge said.

“For customers who are keen to give the hack a go themselves, we’ve got additional stock landing in stores nationally this week.”

The most popular fittings have already sold out in the Bunnings Newstead and Virginia stores, with low stock reported at Indooroopilly and Cannon Hill.

Bunnings stores have also been spotted jumping in on the trend labelling product bins with “cup holder” to help shoppers find the correct sizes.
