Surprise! The first celebrity going into the jungle has been revealed

Their daughter's reaction to the news is absolutely priceless. 

The first contestant joining the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has been revealed. 

Former Bachelor Matthew "Matty J" Johnson, has officially announced he will be heading into the South African jungle. 

In a guest appearance on wife Laura Byrne's podcast Life Uncut, the former Bachelor confirmed he was thrilled to be swapping roses for zebra testicles as part of his new gig.

"I am going on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!," he cheered. "I'm going in the jungle!"

Daddy's going away for a long time

During the pre-recorded episode, Laura confessed that she was a tiny bit nervous about the idea of being the solo parent in their household with their two young daughters, Marlie and Lola.

"He's leaving me very very soon for potentially, if you make it to the end, six weeks," Laura added. 

While mum might have mixed feelings, Matty's youngest daughter Lola did little to hide how she really felt when dad broke the news to his kids. 

"When I told Lola, I wasn't expecting much of a reaction because she doesn't like me at all," Matty shared. 

"She thinks her father is a piece of shit," Laura added, laughing. 

"It went down exactly as I expected. I was like, 'look, I've got some news to tell you girls'. It was in the morning, I sat them down and I said: 'Daddy is going away for work for a long time. I'm going to go to Africa'," Matty said. 

"And Lola instantly goes: 'GIRL'S DAY!' She's like 'WOOOOOO'. She did not care at all."

Welcome to South Africa

Matty is the first celebrity to be joining the new series of the much-loved reality TV show hosted by Julia Morris and Robert Irwin.

Channel Ten shared the news online with a follow-up video update from Matty, who has already landed in South Africa ahead of the show's premiere. 

"Look, the secret is out just a little bit early. Currently, I'm in South Africa and I'm going into the jungle," he shared, adding he's already feeling positive about the unique experience. 

"It feels great to be in South Africa. The weather is beautiful. The sun is shining, it's nice and hot. I saw zebras before, so I'm pumped."

Matty apologises to his fellow campmates

While he's not sure who will be joining him at camp just yet, Matty issued an early warning to viewers and an apology to his fellow contestants for anything he may or may not do during the new series. 

"I hope you enjoy this season. I apologise in advance for the amount of farting, the amount of vomiting that I'm going to be doing," he joked.
