Your Stellar horoscope for the week is here: April 1-7

A blue solar eclipse heralds the start of a rewarding cosmic cycle. Click here to read what the week ahead has in store.

April brings a blue solar eclipse. It might only be visible in Australia and Southeast Asia, but it affects us all. Although it’s not blue in colour (it’s so called because it’s the second Aries new moon this year) it’s still rare and powerful. And its relationship with Jupiter and Pluto heightens its effects. The eclipse heralds the start of a rewarding cosmic cycle. While Mercury’s retrogradation means we need to be able to adapt our plans, adventures embarked upon this month will be successful.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)

We like to know where we stand. That’s why we often stick with what we know – we don’t want to risk generating problems we won’t be able to handle. But no matter how hard we try to make sure life runs along smooth, straight lines, the cosmos seems determined to send us down rough, winding roads. That’s why you find yourself facing a challenge. There’s no simple way to solve this issue. But in April, even if you find yourself in unfamiliar territory, you’ll find innovative (and fun) ways to make things work out.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)

Have another go. Just because a plan hasn’t quite worked doesn’t mean you should give up. Is there a risk of failure? Of course. There’s a risk of success, too. We’re contrary creatures. Sometimes, even if we end up getting what we want, we don’t like it as much as we thought we would. And, conversely, if we don’t get it, we don’t always mind. The journey itself opens the doors of opportunity. It’s not about winning or losing in April. If you want to take part in something richly rewarding, keep trying. There’s much to gain.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)

It’s not only the best things in life that are free. While there’s no charge for sunsets, love and friendships, we don’t have to pay for stress, worry and pain, either. We can have as much of these as we want. This month calls for discernment about what to accept. Just because something looks like a bargain doesn’t mean it’s going to bring good things into your world. April brings opportunities to get rid of something you’ve got too much of, and to get more of what you need. Be selective about what you choose to give and take.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)

I’m surprised you’ve got time to read this. Aren’t you overwhelmed with tasks that need your attention? This might be one of the rare moments of calm you experience this month! With dynamic Mars in your sign, when chances to reflect come your way, seize them. And use the time to assess your energy levels and your actions. Sure, there’s a lot to do, but your job is to work out if it all really needs doing. If you can find a way to relax, you’ll be able to focus on what’s really necessary. And that’s the key to making progress.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)

Astrologers talk about your self-confidence. You’re famously assertive and strong-minded. But these characteristics aren’t qualities you always recognise in yourself. There are times when you feel fragile, when you’d prefer to be on the receiving end of other people’s guidance (rather than the person heading out bravely into battle). If, in April, you feel inclined to retreat, there’s nothing wrong with that feeling. You’re biding your time and waiting for the right moment. When it comes, you’ll know – and you’ll make the right move.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)

“There are more questions than answers. The more I find out, the less I know.” Although this lyric might sum up the confusing situations you find yourself facing in April, there’s a way to simplify this. Rather than seeking the “right” answer, try picking the one you like best, and trusting it. Your intuition is powerful – but you tend to underestimate it. You want to have tangible proof that you’re making good decisions, the blue solar eclipse encourages you to follow your heart. It will lead you in the best possible direction.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)

Most of the time we just bumble along doing the same old things, dealing with the same kind of situations. But life brings “wake up” moments when, despite the fact things have been carrying on as usual, we become aware of the fact that our circumstances have changed. We say to ourselves, wow, how did that happen? These awakenings are precious. They’re indications of the evolution of our higher level of consciousness. April brings a revelation. If you embrace it, and act on it, you can transform your world in a delightful way.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)

You’re not shy and retiring. Or, at least, not when you’re passionate about something. When you have a cause to fight for, or someone to protect, you’re a force to be reckoned with. Just because you don’t always choose to reveal the full extent of your powers, woe betide the person who underestimates you. Events in April enable you to show your strengths and to go beyond your usual boundaries. And your ability to successfully rise to a challenge will be impressive and effective. And remembered for a long time to come.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)

We learn, when we’re young, that we can’t have everything we want. That we need to be able to prioritise. We have to let one thing go so that we can focus on another. It sounds logical, and it’s often a good strategy to follow. Yet, sometimes, it really is possible to have your cake and eat it, too. For some time now, you’ve been dealing with a difficult dilemma. It feels like a choice has to be made. In April, if you use your initiative, and look beyond the obvious, you’ll discover a new option that you can successfully implement.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)

Life is a bit like a department store: if you’re looking for relationships and hobbies, head for the first floor; for special occasions and domestic pleasures, it’s the second; creative pursuits and adventures are on the third; and the fourth? Spirituality and intellectual challenges. The elevator of life offers you a vast selection of options this month. In April, it’s not a question of going up or down; it’s about making the most of whatever floor you find yourself on. If you appreciate what’s on offer, you’ll find lots to be happy about.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)

So much of our time is taken up with keeping promises and making choices on behalf of the people we feel responsible for. Even if we don’t have dependants (in the classic sense) there’s always someone whose requirements we try to take into consideration. We might make different decisions if we weren’t trying to satisfy their needs (or our perception of their needs). April brings opportunities to reassess some of your commitments. If you step back, you’ll find some freedom to focus on yourself – which is what you deserve.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)

We all want to experience a sense of belonging. We want to feel a part of something. We want to fit in. When we know what’s expected of us we also know what we’ve got a right to expect in return. When events seem to strike at the foundation of such an understanding, we feel insecure. And when events support our sense of engagement they reaffirm that we’re doing the right thing – and we feel happy. April brings reassuring, pragmatic affirmations that confirm your commitment to a project is worthwhile. You’re on the right path.
