'So rude': Driver's 'entitled' parking act leaves neighbours fuming

One Sydney resident was sick of hunting for a parking spot outside their home, so they took matters into their own hands.

You can't reserve tables in a food court!

There's nothing more frustrating than hunting for a parking spot outside your own home, especially if you live in a busy suburban area.

That's why one Sydney resident decided to take matters into their own hands to ensure they always get rockstar parking outside their house.

But their controversial move has infuriated their neighbours, who also compete for parking spaces in the busy street.

The dodgy parking act that infuriated locals

A frustrated local took to Facebook to share a photo of several traffic cones set up along the kerb of a street in Leichardt, in the Inner West of Sydney.

The orange witches' hats cordoned off the parking spot outside the person's home but the poster said they didn't believe these were council-approved.

"It's been ongoing for months and doesn't look renovation-related," he said.

It's also understood that there aren't hourly parking restrictions on the street, so anyone can park where they can find a spot.

"There's not enough parking spots," the man added.

"Self-entitled"

Commenters shared their thoughts on the dodgy move, with most deeming it un-neighbourly while others questioned why people didn't just move the cones out of the way.

"Remove them when they aren't there, someone will park there," one person suggested.

"I've noticed that for months and wondered why people have been so observant of them," someone else wrote.

"This is so outrageous," claimed another, while other commenters called the act "entitled", "rude" and "selfish."

"I guess if you're self-entitled and can get away with it," someone else pointed out.

However, some people said the behaviour didn't surprise them.

"The inner-west summed up," someone else replied, uploading a photo of another parking spot 'reserved' with witches' hats.

"A friend got chased down the street once because she moved cones and parked there," someone else shared.

The Inner West Council prohibits reserving street parking this way, saying that residents cannot leave items unattended in public streets.

"Unfortunately, this type of thing does happen in our local government area," a spokesperson told Yahoo.

"Penalties for this type of offence range from $330 to $660."

The council encourages anyone who sees this sort of activity to report it to them for investigation.
