Shopper’s ‘system’ to pick perfect berries every time leaves internet shocked

Supermarket berries always let us down. They’re deceptive little suckers.

They look perfectly plump and delicious in the shop and so lure us into a false sense of security. 

Then we take them home and soon enough, they look sadder than the markdown ones that are on the verge of expiry.

Must we live a life of consuming berries within one-two business days of buying them?!!!

Or is there a reality where they aren’t a mushy, mouldy disappointment before the week is up?

According to a viral TikTok video, there is!

'He's been sitting on this information for years'

The clip, created by Meredith from @naptown_thrifts, explains how to hit the jackpot and end up with a container full of sweet, juicy berries every time you shop - and it’s MUCH simpler than you’d think.

Taking to TikTok, she shared her  ‘system’ for selecting the best berries, and it’s now received 4.5 million views, 320k likes and 700 comments. 

She demonstrates the hack as she narrates over the top: “Whenever my husband buys berries, they last so much longer and taste so much better than the ones that I buy,” she begins.

“And I finally found out his secret is that he flips them over and buys whichever ones don’t stick to the bottom of the carton.”

Meredith captioned the footage: “I just buy the ones that don't look mouldy and gross but apparently, he has a whole system!”

“Am I the last to know about this or what? He's been sitting on this information for years,” she added.

'This is a game-changer'

This simple system has left fellow shoppers in awe.

“I love TikTok University,” one user remarked.

Another chimed in, “This is a game-changer.”

“I’m not going to do anything else from now,” another user stated.

Then this person was left in total shock, “WHATTTTTTT…..this is incredible!!”

"My husband works in an organic produce warehouse and I can confirm this 😅 ," a different woman wrote. 

'This is old news'

But not everyone was won over by Meredith’s trick, saying that it was ‘old news’.

One person said, “Is this not a common sense thing?”

And another expressed that they, “thought everyone does this.”

“It’s not a secret,” one user concluded.
