When Frances Whiting last spoke to Shayna Jack in 2022, the swimmer was deeply sad, with their interview punctuated by tears.
But she remembered the 25-year-old’s defiance even then, a trait which has endured.
Jack fought back after her doping ban, surviving every swimmer’s worst nightmare, and made it to the Paris Olympics this year.

She has the gold relay medals around her neck to prove it. So what next for Jack? Well, a wedding to long-term partner Joel Rintala to start with.
But she doesn’t feel like she has anything to prove to anyone anymore.
“For me, making the team was the big goal, the big redemption arc,” Shayna explains to Frances in this week’s edition of QWeekend.
“You are not going to stop me, and you did not break me.”
