You haven’t really gone to the Ekka if you didn’t at least try one of the scariest and most extreme rides there is.
For a true Ekka experience we asked our intrepid reporter Natasha Innes to try out FIVE of the adrenaline supercharged rides and she begrudgingly said yes ... and it did not end well.
Here are her top picks for the Ekka’s scariest rides:
1. FREESTYLE
Thrill seekers beware, you have to have a heart of steel to go on this ride.
The Freestyle spins almost 50 metres high in a 360-degree motion, which had my hands and feet sweating the whole time.
To make this worse the gondola swings backwards and forwards which made me feel like I was going to go splat on the pavement.
2. HOLLYWOOD HORROR
Although this technically wasn’t a ride, I would rate the scare factor higher than the rest of the rides.
It was exactly like any Hollywood horror film – but scarier!
Instead of being safe behind a TV screen, a guy with a chainsaw (which I hope was fake) came running towards me and then I ran into another spooky character.
Definitely take a friend for back up, don’t go alone like I did.
3. XXXL RIDE
The three X’s must stand for extra extra extra scary because this ride is no joke.
Riders get to experience a g-force of 6.5, just like being in the cockpit of a fighter jet.
After I exited the ride I soon found out why I wouldn’t have ever made it into Top Gun – I vomited everywhere.
4. POWERSURGE
If you’d like to have jelly instead of legs then this ride is for you!
Powersurge will have you spinning out like an F1 driver on a tight corner.
The stomach-churning thrill ride moves in all sorts of directions, from flying sky high to the ground low in forwards and reverse motions.
5. EXTREME
This ride definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted or for those with a full stomach.
With rapidly rotating chairs, Extreme will have you feeling like a rag doll.
I couldn't decide if I was more scared of the ride or throwing up.
