Childhood sweethearts Taylor Grut and Jayden Clout wanted their wedding to be a joyous occasion with a nod to tradition.
The Sunshine Beach couple opted for a garden ceremony overlooking the ocean at Jayden’s parents’ house, followed by a reception at Sails, in Hastings St, Noosa Heads.
More than a hundred guests looked on as they tied the knot and then joined them for a three-course meal in the beachfront venue with panoramic views over Main Beach.
The ceremony was officiated by Hillsong Australia Pastor Joel A’Bell of Revitalise Church in Sydney, who flew up for the occasion.
How did Jayden propose?
On our four-year anniversary, Jayden asked me to meet him at his parents’ house so we could drive to dinner together. When I got there, he invited me up to their rooftop terrace which overlooks Sunshine Beach so we could watch the sunset. He told me that we had been together for four years and that maybe in another four we could get married. After a pause he said, “or we can do it now”, and dropped to one knee and popped the question. He also secretly filmed the proposal on his GoPro.

What made this uniquely your wedding?
It represented us so well, from the elegant classy vibes from my dress and the setting to the beachy casual vibes of the location and Jayden’s suit. We wanted to make sure that our guests had the best time and made it one big party with a gourmet grazing board and drinks during and after the ceremony, followed by a wild dance floor in the evening.
Special memories?
The whole day was amazing but our bridal waltz was a particularly memorable. We decided on a modern boot scoot called The Git Up.
Funny moments?
The best man’s speech was gold and had everyone in stitches. Also when my dad walked me down the aisle his big gulping sobs were contagious and hilarious at the same time. In his speech he blamed his emotion on the reception venue having handed him the bill.
