A helicopter arrival, a champagne tower with fireworks, personalised shot glasses and stubby holders, a gelato cart, a voicemail guest book and a dance floor blowout, there was no stone left unturned at the wedding of Brittney Young and Jack Raisin.
The Jimboomba couple, who met in 2014 when Brittney liked a Facebook post from a mutual friend, married on September 1 last year at Elysian Fields near Canungra in the Gold Coast Hinterland before 110 guests.
Adding to the fun was the fact there was no end time to the reception, with the guests bussed in for the occasion.
Their first dance was to Forever After All by Luke Combs and the couple leave next month for a month-long European honeymoon.

The proposal? Brittney: In October 2020 we bought five acres at Jimboomba and built our new home. We moved in on December 3, 2021 and the next day Jack proposed in the backyard. He’d had the ring for six months but hadn’t been able to find the perfect time.
How did you choose your wedding venue? A friend of ours, Kellie King and her husband Michael, have built this gorgeous equestrian estate. Being involved in eventing with my horses, Kellie and I have crossed paths over the years at horse events and I have always loved the property. When I mentioned this place to Jack it was a done deal! It was perfect! It was less that 10 minutes from my parents’ place at Tamborine (where the bridesmaids and I got ready) and only 15 minutes from our place at Jimboomba (where Jack and his groomsmen got ready). We organised buses for the guests. Lots lof them live close by or stayed at Canungra.
What would you spend more or less on?We absolutely loved our wedding video. This was a last minute add-on after recommendations from friends.
How did you go about choosing your wedding dress? The first boutique we went to, I tried on a whole bunch of dresses. But the first one I tried on was the one I picked, Darcy from Made with Love Bridal.
What thoughts did the groom have while waiting at the end of the aisle? Jack said his day was made just from the helicopter lol! But once that all settled down he was nervous!
What was the most stressful part of wedding planning? I went to Bronwyn from Scenic Rim Bride with some ideas of what we wanted. I was really unsure whether I needed a wedding planner, but so glad I did, there would have been so many smaller detail items that I would have forgotten about until it was too late. We highly recommend Bronwyn. She was utterly amazing!
Any unique or surprising details? We surprised everyone with these Gerbs (a type of fireworks, pictured left). When we made our entrance to the reception we did our champagne pour to the song Charlie Brown by Coldplay and 26 seconds into the song … the music changed and the Gerbs lit up! It was amazing! Gave so many people goosebumps!
What was the standout moment of the day?
There was so many: 1. Jack and his groomsmen arriving on a helicopter which was a surprise to all guests; 2. Champagne pour with fireworks (from Xplosive Entertainment); 3. Baker Boys Band was such a vibe, so many guests said it was the best dance floor ever; 4. Limoncello shot wall from Champagne Walls Gold Coast, at which we had personalised shot glasses that guests could take home; 5. Personalised stubby coolers at the bar; 6. Gelato cart bicycle from Gareth Keenan Catering. Later in the night, Jack’s dad, Warren, may have pedalled the bicycle and cart across the dance floor; 7. The Message Co phone was there to leave a voicemail after a pre-recorded message from Jack and I. Instead of a book to write in – we have voicemails, they were hilarious!
What was a wedding non-negotiable for you?No cut-off time - which we achieved - as it was a private venue. We didn’t want to be kicked out at 10pm.
Best wedding gift you received? We received contributions from our family and friends to our wishing well, which was our honeymoon fund. Although, Jack’s sister Millie gifted us a toasted sandwich press, which is a winner!
Cake? It was by caterer Gareth Keenan: three tiers in white chocolate and raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache with raspberry compote; and Ferrero Rocher chocolate mud cake with hazelnut dacquoise, Ferrero pieces and hazelnut ganache.
Top wedding hack?No kids at the wedding, and offer transport to and from the venue so everyone can have a great time.
Best advice for other couples planning a wedding?Find a fantastic wedding planner who makes your day a dream! Truly worth the investment. From planning to styling and day co-ordination, everything ran so smoothly.
