Netballer Kim Ravaillion and AFL player Adam Treloar are still madly in love despite living apart for their careers.
How did you meet?
Adam: We met at work, which was at the Collingwood Football Club when Kim was playing there and I was playing there.
What was the first thing you noticed about each other?
Adam: Other than how gorgeous she is, it was how hard working she was and how fit she was.
Kim: I noticed he was a blond, shy guy and I decided to walk up to him and start a conversation. Something pulled me towards him so I walked over and just asked how he was.

When did you first know it was love?
Adam: I probably knew it was love the first time I held a long conversation with her, and once I understood her motivations it was like I was talking to myself.
Kim: When we first spoke, we had so much in common, I think it took two weeks for me to fall in love with him. Prior to Adam, I didn’t have time for anyone else. I was too busy or just couldn’t be bothered. But with Adam I just wanted to be around him all the time. Two weeks later the words “I love you” came out of my mouth.
What was your most standout date?
Adam: There are quite a few dates that stand out, but for me it would probably be the first date. I picked her up after training one day as she had the day off. We had Hunky Dory at my house for dinner and spoke for like two to three hours about life and then I dropped her home. From there I just was so in love.
Kim: He took me to Crown Towers for a weekend date night early in our relationship, it was super romantic.
What is the most romantic thing your partner has ever done for you?
Adam: When Kim surprised me for my 26th birthday – she had all my close friends there and it was such a good night. She went to a lot of effort to organise it.
Kim: In the first year of our relationship, every month that went by he would write me a love letter, I’ve kept every single one.
What is the secret to a happy relationship?
Adam: Oh, that’s hard because I’m no expert and I well and truly have my flaws. But I think being able to accept that nothing is perfect and your relationship will have its challenges but being able to support, love and communicate that to your partner will go a long way to a successful relationship.
Kim: Definitely communication can be hard. It’s just a matter of understanding where each other is coming from. And also listening is key.
Who puts the bins out?
Adam: I definitely do when we are living together.
Kim: Adam when we are together.
What is the thing you argue the most about?
Adam: Probably me and my obsession about sports. In particular my NFL Fantasy and my horse racing. I love them both.
Kim: Probably him being obsessed with his NFL Fantasy when sometimes I’d love his attention. Otherwise we are a normal couple who have disagreements.
What do you find the most annoying about each other?
Adam: I’m going to say just how she can be too competitive sometimes haha which ruins the fun for us.
Kim: That he always doubts himself, he never thinks he’s good enough for me. It’s annoying because he is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
Who does the most cooking?
Adam: I reckon she does most of the cooking when we are together.
Kim: I do, but Adam is a better cook.
How has having a child affected your relationship?
Adam: Life is more precious as you have a child to bring up and raise in this world. Your priorities change and your purpose changes. Everything I do is for my daughter.
Kim: It’s been extremely rewarding but also a big challenge. Before Georgie we had time for each other, now with Georgie we do everything for her. We try and make time for date night when we can and make the most of the time we have together when we are together. We absolutely adore watching our little girl grow up.
Your biggest relationship challenge?
Adam: Living away from each other (Kim playing with the Firebirds in Brisbane, Adam in Melbourne with the Western Bulldogs) is by far the toughest challenge. Missing key moments in both my girls’ lives has been hard.
Kim: Living apart from each other definitely, we both want to live out our professional athlete careers. Making that sacrifice of being away from each other has had its challenges, however we both know it’s not forever so we’ve made it work.
Three things that irritate you about each other?
Adam: Her competitiveness; chews with her mouth open haha; how she always wants me to do TikToks and gets angry at me when I refuse.
Kim: NFL Fantasy – when that time of year comes around, NFL is his fiance; Adam will always give to everyone but forgets to give to himself – he finds himself let down most of the time and doesn’t know how to say no; he doesn’t breathe when he eats, he scoffs it down. Like chill, it ain’t going anywhere.
Three things you love about each other?
Adam: Her kind soul, she doesn’t judge and she treats everyone the same; her drive and motivation to have success, when she commits to something there is rarely anything stopping her; the way she wears her heart on her sleeve. It’s beautiful to see.
Kim: Just that he loves me, supports me and has allowed me to follow my dreams;
the way he is with every human he meets, giving everyone the time of day. He has patience when it comes to a lot of people;
he is the most beautiful soul, I think the most handsome man and kindest person I’ve ever met.
