It’s quite a responsibility when you are wrangling everyone’s favourite animated character on stage.

Twenty two year-old puppeteer Jessa Koncic from Melbourne has the honour of being the person behind Bluey in Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show which is back at QPAC this week by popular demand.

The show runs until Sunday and crowds are flocking to see the stage version of the popular TV series.

As we all know Bluey is from Brisbane and her creator is Joe Brumm who has written an original story for the stage production with new music by Joff Bush who also does the soundtrack for the TV series.

On stage a group of puppeteers bring to life Bluey and Bingo, Bandit and Chilli.

Jessa Koncic was to do the role last time Bluey played QPAC but a Melbourne lockdown stopped her.

“I’m so happy to be here doing it now,” Koncic says. “The audience loves it and we’re like rock stars up there with the kids loving it.

“It’s quite physically demanding but the energy of the audience keeps us going. I don’t feel tired until I sit down in the dressing room after the show.”

QPAC chief executive John Kotzas says the centre is a presenting partner of the show which has “captured the hearts of audiences and critics in its last two seasons at QPAC”.

“We expect audiences will again be charmed by the show’s real-life family ups and downs,” Kotzas says.

“It’s great news that Bluey is back in her hometown so even more families will be able to experience it. This is the first time Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show will run during school term, offering school groups the opportunity to see this show.”
