Queensland’s power price pain: Take the survey now

With electricity price rises set to hit Queenslanders again, we want to know how it’s affecting you. TAKE OUR SURVEY

Power price hike expected as transition to renewables continues

Queensland households have been shocked by soaring power prices.

And we’re being told more pain is on the way, with the cost of an average power bill set to soar more than $800 over two years.

With little known relief on the way, The Courier-Mail has launched a survey to find out how you, your family or business are being impacted, what you’re missing out on to pay the power bill, and what you’ve had to switch off in order to keep the lights on or the doors open.

The average power bill for an average-income South East Queensland family in 2021-22 was about $1667, already up almost $200 on the previous year.

In regional Queensland the pinch is worse, with the average bill at $1985, an increase of $180 on the previous year.

We want to hear from Queenslanders across the state on how much your bills have gone up and what you think powerbrokers and policymakers should do to slash your bills and drive prices down.
