They came from Cuba to make their careers at Queensland Ballet and now Yanela Pinera and Camilo Ramos have locked in their future, becoming engaged in Noosa.

When they came from Cuba to join Queensland Ballet, Yanela Pinera and Camilo Ramos found a new life.
Now, after a romantic weekend in Noosa where Camilo popped the question during a gondola ride, they are engaged.
Their wedding will take place in Cuba when they can both return to their home country.
But right now the dancers, who have been a couple for ten years, are over the moon and today they announced their news to fellow dancers who were thrilled.

Queensland Ballet is led by a couple – artistic director Li Cunxin and his wife, ballet mistress Mary Li (nee McKendry) who met when both were stars dancing at the Houston Ballet.
It’s not unusual for ballet dancers to get together with other ballet dancers and there are a number of couples at Queensland Ballet including Ari Thompson and Georgia Swan, Lucy Green and Samuel Packer, and Mia Heathcote and Victor Estevez.
Pinera, 34 and Ramos, 31, both principal artists, have danced together and were gorgeous on stage as the star crossed lovers in Queensland Ballet’s production of Romeo and Juliet.
They also danced together for Queensland Ballet’s new show 60 Dancers: 60 Stories, a series of short pieces on the theme of love which premiered at the Brisbane Powerhouse and comes to QPAC in December.
Cuba is a powerhouse of ballet and a number of Cubans have joined Queensland Ballet including Pinera, Ramos, Patricio Reve, Victor Estevez and Laura Tosar.
